Zuri Fertility Launches to Drastically Simplify the Fertility Journey
Zuri is Solving for the Fragmented and Isolating Fertility Journey by Delivering Personalized, Streamlined Care - From Telehealth and Education to Mental and Financial Support
Zuri Fertility today launched its platform that optimizes the fertility journey for the one in six couples facing infertility worldwide. The company’s mission is to modernize fertility care for families by equipping users with access to resources tailored to each patient, including education, telehealth, at-home testing, prescriptions, and care coordination. In addition, the platform goes beyond patient care to provide the support patients need to feel heard, understood, and cared for.
Zuri Fertility is co-founded by Gulianna Zaccardelli, MD and Blair Matthews, JD and is based on Matthews’ own lived experiences trying to conceive with his wife Jasmine in 2017. They soon realized the fertility journey was a lonely one, lacking support and reliable information on how to move forward. In fact, 77 percent of physicians are concerned about the lack of accurate data and resources for patients. Jasmine, who is a Physician Associate, ultimately reached out to her medical network for help, saving them months of uncertainty and tens of thousands of dollars in potential medical bills in order to welcome their two sons.
“My wife and I assumed getting pregnant would happen easily and naturally, but we soon realized that infertility is a medical issue affecting millions,” said Blair Matthews, COO and Co-Founder of Zuri Fertility. “As a Black man struggling with infertility, I experienced how our community stigmatizes seeking medical help for reproductive health issues and became aware of the lack of representation and education about male infertility. These factors make launching Zuri a personal mission of mine.”
Zuri Fertility’s app and platform will offer personalized, streamlined fertility care. This includes cycle and sexual activity tracking, telehealth consultations with fertility doctors, at-home diagnostic kits, and personalized treatment plans. Zuri understands that 90 percent of infertility care can be treated with medication, and will offer users prescriptions directly. For the 10 percent who may require IVF, Zuri will offer referrals and integrate patient records with third-party specialists to ensure continuity of care.
“As a physician, I realized that we must do better to care for the whole person – especially when dealing with issues like infertility that cause anxiety, stress, and burnout. I joined this profession to help patients, but there are limitations we can do as providers,” said Gulianna Zaccardelli, MD, CEO and Co-Founder of Zuri Fertility. “This is exactly why I partnered with Blair to start Zuri: to focus on getting patients the information and help they need at every point in their fertility journey.”
In order to deliver proper fertility care for both men and women, Zuri has hired Co-Chief Medical Officers with extensive healthcare experience. Dr. Ruth O. Arumala, DO, MPH, NCMP, an Obstetrician-Gynecologist and women’s health advocate with a solo practice in Mansfield, Texas, will focus on female fertility at Zuri. Dr. Omer Raheem, MD, is an American Board-Certified reproductive urologist specializing in men’s sexual health, male infertility, and andrology at the University of Chicago.
Zuri Fertility’s holistic care model supports patients and their partners throughout their fertility journey with access to licensed therapists, nutritionists, and financial counselors. This support is critical in helping people cope with the emotional and psychological stress that often comes with fertility treatment. Waitlists are now available for Zuri Fertility memberships, which will cost $2,000 upon registration with additional $500 monthly fee. The offering is currently self-pay, with plans to integrate insurance solutions throughout the year.
