WoW FemTech and HealthTech Hub

FemTech (or Female technology) is a term applied to a category of software, diagnostics, products, and services that use technology often to focus on women's health. This sector includes wearable devices, fertility solutions, period-tracking apps, pregnancy and nursing care, women's sexual wellness, and reproductive system health care.

There are many reasons why FemTech and HealthTech are one of the key areas of focus for us at WoW:

  • Digital health market is expected to reach $536 billion by 2025. In March 2018, Frost and Sullivan predicted a FemTech market potential of $50 billion by 2025.

  • Women's health accounts for only 4% of the overall funding for research and development for healthcare products and services.

  • Period pain affects 9 out of 10 women in the UK.

  • On average, it takes 7.5 years to get a formal diagnosis of endometriosis - a condition that can cause crippling period pains.

  • 58% of the women affected by symptoms of the menopause said that this sometimes caused them problems at work.

  • 1 in 5 women experience a common mental health problem (such as anxiety and depression) compared to 1 in 8 men. List just goes on and on and on.

As part of our FemTech and HealthTech programme, we are creating content, interviewing community members, building partnerships and running panels, fireside chats, mentoring sessions, office hours and workshops with our femtech and healthtech network, with the aim of connecting a global and local ecosystem through our platform, helping founders in this space to start and grow their businesses, educating about latest technological advancements and innovation in this space, as well as enabling easier access to funding.
